The elegance of a bygone era. The print features a turn-of-the-20th-century advertisement poster for Cinzano wine. This piece of artwork is nearly an exact replica of the original, even including raised brush strokes. Meticulously reproduced on art paper or canvas, this collectible work makes a bold statement.
Leonetto Cappiello (b. 1875 in Livorno, Italy; d. 1942 in Cannes, France) was an Italian poster art designer who lived in Paris. He is now often called the father of modern advertising. Cappiello had no formal training in art. He started his career as a caricaturist illustrating in journals. Between 1901 and 1914 he created several hundred posters in a style that revolutionized the art of poster design. Cappiello redesigned the fin-de-siecle pictures into images more relevant to the faster pace of the 20th century.
The remarkable intensity of color and texture is achieved with the Giclee process, beautifully capturing the assorted artistic styles and defining periods of the early advertising age. "Giclee" (jee-clay) is an advanced printmaking process for creating high quality fine art reproductions. The attainable excellence that Giclee printmaking affords makes the reproduction virtually indistinguishable from the original artwork. The result is wide acceptance of Giclee by galleries, museums, and private collectors.
This art work takes you on a journey to a delightful time and place while displaying humor and superb graphic design. Makes an exquisite addition to any room.
